Last Call for Posters and Abstracts

Time is running out to submit your research poster for the 2021 Boulder Peptide Symposium and present in person. Graduate students and post-docs are eligible to apply for a travel award and receive free registration and $500 towards travel costs.

The Student Travel Award is made possible by a generous grant from Johnson and Johnson

What are the advantages of presenting an abstract?
  • Reach a diverse audience of key decision makers and thought leaders in the peptide field.
  • Get direct feedback on your research strategy
  • Find collaborators to commercialize or further develop your idea
  • Enjoy fine food, drinks and networking during the poster session.

A presentation abstract should convince the reader that the topic is important and that they should come to see your complete presentation at the meeting. An abstract describing a research study should include:

TIPS ON WRITING A PRESENTATION ABSTRACT

  • A statement that introduces the problem you are studying,
  • The methods section in which you describe the approach and tests that were used,
  • The results/conclusions in which you communicate why your findings are worth presenting. Stating “The findings will be presented.” is not acceptable. Even though the space is limited, you must include the main results of your study.
  • The summary in which you state what you learned or where you are going in the future.

Longtime Friend and Scientific Contributor to the Boulder Peptide Symposium, Dr. Robert Hodges, Passed Away in April 2021

Dr. Hodges was a fixture at many of our symposia, both as an attendee and presenter. Most recently at BPS 2019, Dr. Hodges presented "On the Road to Commercialization of Antimicrobial Peptides to Treat Gram-Negative Bacterial Infections," during the Peptide Showcase.

Dr. Hodges was professor of biochemistry & molecular genetics and chair in peptide chemistry at the University of Colorado. During his career, he has been awarded the R. Bruce Merrifield Award (2017), the Murray Goodman Scientific Excellence & Mentorship Award (2013), and the Vincent du Vigneaud Award (2004) among others. Dr. Hodges was also active in the American Peptide Society, serving as president from 1997 - 1999.

Our sincere condolences go out to Dr. Hodges' family, friends, and colleagues. He will be sorely missed at our future gatherings. More about Dr. Hodges's career and achievements can be found at https://www.americanpeptidesociety.org/obituary/hodges-robert/
